The problem with multi function is that when one function stops working it can be big money to get the whole thing stripped down and repaired. My Last cooker was a multifunction, with a grill in the oven, I hated the thing with a passion, it prevented anything from being grilled or toasted if the main oven was in use, it was rather like having to choose between having your steak grilled or fried if the oven was already in use doing the jacket spuds or potato wedges to go with it, it really does cut down menu options for the serious cook, and theres nothing worse than having to wait to bake your cake until after the bacon butties or toasted cheese sarnies have finished using the grill, so not so good for a busy hungry family to contend with.
My latest cooker is a slot in, double oven, grill in the top oven, 4 superfast hallogen type rings, its tight fitted upto the worksurface edges using stainless steel strips, so gives the appearence of being a fully fitted cooker. It can be pulled away from the wall easily for cleaning or maintainance, and is a much better option for family cooking than the 'all in one' grill/oven/microwave combination that it replaced.

Pyrolytic cleaning is amazing although I don't have a Neff. I have a Baumatic oven. You do get used to the door sticking out and I find it much easier to work with than I expected. The door does come off for washing. I have a terrible bad back and I was worried about managing with the oven door in place but it isn't as bad as I expected. I do like the idea of a slide in door though it looks stylish. I rarely need to remove the door for cleaning as I put the pyrolytic cycle on then just have a wipe a tiny bit of white ash out. I was amazed by how little energy the pyrolytic cycle uses. Pyrolytic cleaning doesn't clean the shelves. My oven is a double oven the main being 65 litres. I did find that 65 litres was perfect size for cooking family meals as I can fit 2 shelves and a roasting tray for cooking a roast dinner. 58 litres would be minimum size for a family I think. Re oven sttings I have either 8 or 10. I use 4 grill, fan, top and bottom heat with fan, top and bottom heat. On the small lower oven I use top and bottom heat, bottom heat only and grill. I use an electric steamer for moist cooking. Sue your old oven sounds like my old one, I spent weeks burning food after I got my new one.
