had to take my recent car purchase, back to the dealer as the socket for the locking wheel nuts were misssing, it took the mechanic all of ten mins to replace all four wheel bolts.  bet naughty boys could do it in less.

There are universal unlocking kits available to buy, makes you wonder why bother with locking nuts in the first place.

i think when they first started they where useful, as the 'special nuts' where not too common.


now its just to cause inconvenience trying to find the bloody thing when the car goes to the garage for new tyres!

where I work the scumbags arrived 2 weeks ago and took 8 wheels off 2 vehicles and 2 off the trailer!!!One vehicle was new!!!! It is a charity too. So much for locking wheel nuts. They brought the release sockets with them!!!

Richard says this. When he was working on the docks there were a couple of occasions when one of the fitters had to "break into" a car that was supposedly theft proof - a car would sometimes be sent over from Ireland, and the keys left in it - and they would self lock, which would mean that they had to be broken into (so to speak) so that they could be moved.

Wasn't sure whether or not to be embarrassed - one time I was at my parents, and somebody opposite had obviously locked themselves out of their car - they had been trying for about an hour to get in - took Richard about 5 minutes.

I have removed my security nuts, total waste of time! It only took 10 seconds per nut to remove! which is only a second or so more than the normal nuts

Hi, I have just had my car to the garage to change all 4 tyres and the mechanic said that he could not see the point of security nuts as they are easy to remove with kit and not many alloy wheels are stolen now.
