Good campsite.......... Brook Lodge seems ok and is about as close to Bristol as you can get. It's between Churchill and Bristol Airport. If you want to see the evening balloon glow then Bedminster Down is the best place, it's on the way into Bristol, just after the Kings Head on the A38. Park on the grass on the right. It's half a mile away from Ashton Court but you look down on the whole thing, quite good views and the only cost is someome rattling a bucket for a good cause. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING is free at the event, parking is awful and there are always long queues to get in. Perseverance is the key, try coming in along Beggar Bush Lane, which is behind the venue, there is usually a car park up there somewhere. If you are prepared to walk there is a Park & Ride close by, but I'm not sure how busy this would be Having said that, it is a fabulous event and well worth the grief of getting in. I hope you enjoy it. Just thinking !!! There is a site at Baltic Wharf right in the middle of the dock area ( not a working dock anymore). IF you can get in there you are right in the middle of 'all singing all dancing' modern Bristol, the area is beautiful, and in walking distance of the balloon festival. It is very popular tho'.
