Do you need to provide all the documents of proof of who you are if you set up an online bank account?
Me and OH been to our bank to get him put on an account. It started as his (had my own with the same bank). Then after we married he made it a joint account. Then he messed up financially and put it in my name only. Today we went to get him put back on and they need loads of proof of who he is. It was originally his account.
They have never questioned why I have two current accounts with them!!!
It occurred to me - do you need all these documents when you set up an online account. I don't think I did when I set up a Tesco outline bank account.
Are you online with the bank that is in your name? Sometimes you have an option to open another account under your online options. I think that's how I got my other account but added OH onto it. I don't remember sending off any of his details.
Its not like he was not a customer to start with. It was originally his account. Seems ridiculous as he has his own account at another bank now and could have just moved that one over with no trouble.
He has to get a passport as proof of ID. His birth certificate and a load of bills is not enough. So we are getting passports for which we will need to send off his birth certificate!!!
He's just gone through a load of security checks for a job too.

The only joint account that you need should be with the butcher!!
Ha ha, I used my joint account to help fund my 2 horses, OH didn't have a clue for years, until I gave up when we moved he did once say he knew all along though......
For online account with the co op bank they could do all the checks online so I didn't need to take them any documents at all. Not sure if its the same with all banks but they were a breeze to open an account with online.
