Hi there,i am thinking about buying some half decent binoculars
and would value any info and recommendations.these would be for general use and my budget is around £100
thanks

Hi
I went and got some at an open day at a WWT place, they also do them at RSPB reserves - mine were £105 I had a bigger budget but they were the ones that felt the best in terms of weight and view etc. I would definitely try to go to one of these events to try them out to find out which you prefer. Don't even know what these ones are tbh so can't give any advice re techy stuff!!!
We have a few old pairs.the most expensive i cannot use as i have to have childs glasses and the view is too wide for me to focus.Keep this in mind when you buy.
I can't use binoculars, can't focus both eyes with them, don't know why. My son is that same now although he was all right when he was younger. He is now thinking about getting a monocular.
You say they are for general use, but that is not much to go on! Do you want them to be pocket sized or can they be "normal sized"?
I have a pair of Celestron 7 x 50 prism binoculars which I find very good for all round use, even do a bit of stargazing with them. They were about £26 so they won't break the budget.
Hope I've been a bit of help!
------------- Love a lot. Trust a few. But ALWAYS paddle your own canoe!!
Minds are like parachutes:- They only function when they are open!!!
Those who talk don't know.
Those who know don't talk.
Thanks for all your input, after consideration i think i might be better off with a monocular as i do seem to be having trouble focusing sometimes.any opinions on monoculars will be greatly appreciated

Marc with a good pair of bins you should be able to adjust one eye piece to suit your eyes. The idea is cover the eye on the non adjustable eye piece, get the other into focus and away you go.
The only way to get the right pair is try them. My OH and I have the same make different models, I love mine, 20 plus years old, but cannot get on with his. I used to have an inexpensive pair but tried the more expensive ones at an optics fair. It was like someone turned the lights on.
I've just bought 2 pairs from local charity shops for £16.
One is a 20x and the smaller an 8x for the boss. It's well worth a trawl around the shops for a bargain.
I've got a mono-pod for resting mine on.
------------- Some days you are the dog,
some days you are the tree.
Look on ebay, there's some brand new Bushnell ones from Jays Optics starting at £29.99, retail £99:95.
My OH is looking for some at the moment and seems to think these are a good buy.
