Hi,
I manage and coach an under 9 girls football team, they're in big need of a set of training tops (among other items), we need to raise at least £250, do you think the good people of ukcampsite would donate if I set up a page on http://www.fundmyteam.co.uk/ I'd be more than happy to have ukcampsite.co.uk printed on the tops as sponsors? The girls are extremely dedicated and apart from their league matches have taken part in festivals across Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex & Bedfordshire this season.

Hi

Have you considered fundraising evenings at local Chinese/Indian restaurants?  Some host charity nights where you can raise funds for local causes - charge people, say, £5 on top of a fixed price menu/buffet and have that for the fund....plus a raffle.  If all the parents/friends/grandparents/neighbours and so on all take part you could raise quite a bit.  Or a quiz night?  I recently attended one for the charity I work for and a fun evening raised over £400, including a raffle where everyone donated a prize.

Just a thought?  Good luck!

Hi,
Yeah we've thought about things like these, but we only have 10 girls and the parents already pay out quite a bit, registration fees, kits, footballs etc We did a quiz night a while back and raised enough for a set of new footballs for next season (£200+ for 12 training balls & 2 match day balls)just can't keep asking parents and relatives. I'm planning on talking to local superstores and asking if they can help out in anyway (sponsorship/donations etc).

I raised over £300 for my son's rugby team a few years ago. I took a profile photo of every child and a team photos and I offered parents these photos in the form of keyrings, fridge magnets, bags or just photos - all easily available in blank form on ebay. I found they were very popular with parents not only buying for themselves but also buying them for grandparents, etc.

Worth a try.

Our rugby team used to get a local company to buy them the kit and have their company advertised on it. Not brilliant but it means the kids get kit.

Why not get your local newspaper and radio to do an article on your team and their needs?

You may be suprised at what donations may be offered by local people and companies alike, also have you put out a plee for people to donate supermarket sports kit vouchers such as the ones for 'Active kids' that are given out to shoppers at the checkouts?

Are you in a village? Ask your Parish Council or Town Council for a small grant - ours does this for the village groups.

How about a stall at a local church fete etc. if they would give you a decent price for that stall - being a kids football team I am sure that this could be arranged.
Cheap and cheerful games, such as hook a duck (always popular) with cheap and cheerful prizes - Freddos as the main prizes and penny sweets for those that don't win.
Scouts did one, which was basically a box with a wire thing on top - not sure what is used to be, about 1 1/2" square holes. Held in with cable ties. Places various bars of chocolate on the top. Got people to chuck coins at it and if it landed on the bar of chocolate they won. Rest just fell down the holes into the box.   Didn't matter if people chucked a penny or a pound.   It was amazing how many people took the slummy out of their pockets and tried to win.   Took around £20 in two hours, very little effort - and this was only a very small church fair.

Just a tip: Morrisons in Letchworth was a right pain when my scouts did a bag pack, but they do have groups doing bag packs. Pros and Cons thing.

Have you tried the round table?

Have you had any support from your local Community Foundation? They are set up to specifically support small grass roots community groups and usually have funds available. Funders, criteria, closing dates vary but it's worth a call. They are really helpful

I am having a problem with this post. It's a very commendable cause and am happy for you that you have had many suggestions of how to raise funds for your team. I hope you get your strips donated.
However, when I put a post on here about fundraising for my 6 year old Grandson who had lost his leg in a Motorway accident, it was removed. I was not asking for money, just support for a group of people who were fundraising.
Seems on here it is definately not what you know but who you know!!
Shame really. Good site otherwise.

On the bag packing idea, very good, we get a lot of groups doing this at the Co-op and other supermarkets here. I prefer to pack my own as I pack in accordance with cupboards, fridge and freezer, but I alway chuck some money in their bucket. Good luck whichever way you choose to raise funds.
