Going to give them until Tuesday. I realise that they probably are doing all they can for now. Just very frustrating for me as I'm sat here waiting. A bit of communication from them would have helped. I have had to call each time and it was my call to them that alerted a problem. I cannot believe they had no idea before.

Laptop back, not fixed and has had damage done to it. Now gone off to a local shop, just hope they can sort it. No money back from Tesco so a letter has gone off to CEO.

Surfspud glad you got it back. What's the new damage? I would be speaking to the manufacturer about the original problem even tho out of warranty as a charger should not melt! May even have been part of a recall - there has been a few on these lines recently.
And also to Tesco for cost of fixing new damage (was it well packaged) as well as refund of repair costs.
Took a couple of readings as I couldnt understand "sorted it out myself", "its through Tesco", "didnt get it from tesco".
If you are saying that you arranged for a repair through Tesco's repair service and the company they sent your machine to damaged it....TESCO ARE LIABLE!!! Its just simple basic contract law.
Also as said previously...ignored "12 month warranty". Under the SOGA goods must be fit for purpose. A charger melting after just over 12 months would indicate that it certainly wasnt fit for purpose. However, it may be down to you to prove that. If you try a google search for similiar problems, you would be surprised how much furtehr you can get with the initial shot of "I have a problem with my computer, which I understand is a widespread and known fault.........."
------------- It'll work out in the end!!!!
I didn't do it !! Nobody saw me do it !! You can't prove anything !!
Thanks. Sorry for not being clear. I'm did Google similar problems and nothing came up. I also checked and my laptop is around two years old.
The charger point was Overheating causing the plasti on the the jack To begin melting. I stopped using it at this point and sent it to tesco for y repair. However they have ignored this and allowed not only the plastic to melt completely but melt the outer case of the laptop.
It is now being fixed elsewhere. The damage caused yes I is costing me £70. I
Tesco have offered £40 in a gift card as compensation.
They have still not refunded my original payment feel like promising this many times.
I have rejected the gift card ss I cannot pay the local shop with this and by giving me a gift card they don't lose Anything.
