Has anybody had a bike on the cycle to work scheme?
Ive just 'ordered' 1, subject to paperwork at work and waiting for the voucher. It seems that my employer (DHL) may only use Halfords for the bikes, but mine is 'ordered' at an independant local bike shop. I say ordered, but its technically just a quote for now untill the voucher is released and I suppose I could go to halfords if it really is necessary-the local bike shop gave much better customer service and had the time to spend with the customer. I have heard, that local bike shops can take the halfords voucher. Is this right?
Also, can I take another voucher for a bike/accessories in 12 months-i.e, once this bike is paid off?
Any help/advice is much appreciated.

If you speak to halfords they have a service where they can source bikes from other dealers. It depends weather the independant dealer will deal with halfords.
I looked into it with my work but as soon as halfords was mentioned it all went downhill as their bike choice is rubbish.
In the end i didnt bother as the the scheme also doesnt buy a bike thats in the sale and works on full rrp (or so i was told by my employers scheme people).
Look around and their are some massive savings to be made online via various retailers like evans and independant local shops anyway.

We have the scheme at work and can use a few local suppliers, Halfords being one of them.

I took a little extra on the voucher to buy my accessories at the same time. Not sure you can have a voucher without a bike.

Yep great scheme, got my Bike from Halfords, well Front Wheel and Rear Wheel with SRAM Spectro P7 (internal gear hub) c/w Hub Brake fitted.
I already had the Frame 17.5" Titanium from Tilon in China.
Halfords gave me a bill for £500 although the parts only cost £300, as I got them to add the cost of my Frame.
Worked well for me, as before the term ended my employer Sky made a 1000 of us redundant, so the Bike scheme was just written off,, and we got to keep the bikes as part of our package. Happy days.
That was 8 years ago, and I still ride the same bike, would cost about £1700 at today's prices but cost me nowt, apart from the £250 that I paid for the Frame/Forks in the first place.

well the paperworks in and Im just waiting for payrole to finalise things then its off to Halfords to order my bike. I think Im going to get the carrera zenos. Its currently £299 instead of £599. Then I will get all the accessories I need. Not sure if I should order it now, before the voucher is sent or wait, in case I dont get the voucher. Because I need a medium, these need to be orederd in as they only have the large in stock, so that will take a few days to arrive in store.

My son in law works for the Civil Service in an area riddled with cycle paths. He would cycle to work, but the CS don't offer the scheme, only administer it.

We have two bikes through the NHS cycle to work scheme. The only way we could have afforded two decent bikes. AA good scheme.

Me, I would put them in the bin, but they could go on the wifes bike or ebay.
