I have linked up my IPad with my IPhone and I am accessing the Internet so easily. I am using Personal Hotspot.Last month I spent £15 on the CC wireless setup and only managed to get around 30 mins of usage. The wireless connection was hit and miss.
Does anyone know if you can only link up Apple products or does it work with others?

All android phones on os from the last couple of years can be used as hotspots. And you can buy devices such as 3's mi-fi that will do the same.

Indeed. Routine functionality we've used in last few years:

*tethering tab to phones and using their 3G
*wireless printing from phones (and PC/tab, of course)
*wireless content sharing between TV, PC, tab, and phones
*remote control of TV from phone, and PVR over internet from phone
*TV/PVR/BD all "smart"

and not an Apple device to be seen

I have an unlimited internet contract from 3 and paid £5 a month extra to use my phone as a wifi hotspot whilst I was living in Dorset as the staff accommodation didn't have wifi. It was brilliant, used it all the time. Ran my battery down like mad though.

The TV reception was poor on our last site so I watched it on my IPad .
Cost me an arm and a leg!!!! I learned something new that day. When my contract runs out later this year I am looking for unlimited downloads.

Three is the overall best network in terms of coverage and cost, but obviously there will be some areas other networks are better in.

In fact we have found three to be so good that we ditched the fixed line ADSL from BT about 3 years ago. I put a special antenna on our house roof and its much faster than 'traditional' broadband. Can't wait for the upgrade to LTE (4G).

It's a shame so many campsites are so keen to rip people off for wifi Internet access. I went to one site that wanted £5 and hour, yet another site wanted just £15 unlimited use for your entire stay (up to a week) which is very reasonable (but rare). I have even heard of some offering free access, but I have never come across any myself yet!

Our site in France had free wi-fi.

I find when we're out and about in the UK, what with BT hotspots, M&S, etc etc, there's loads of free connections.

The only one we pay for is Premier Inn. £3 for 24 hrs, pretty fast, can pay with Paypal. Good deal

Go and sit in a McDdonald's car park, you can access their free wifi there . Personally whilst supporting my 2 Disabled, now Adult children, attend collage, I have in the past, put in over 1,000 hours connected to McD's wifi.

Mind you' I have bought hundreds of Lattes, Belgium fudge brownies, chicken nugget happy meals for the poodles. And used to have 6-7 full coffee collector cards in the car at one time, so they did good business out of me

I've even logged on late Christmas Eve, and worked until they closed at 21:00 for the benefit of the Geocaching Community.

I too have used my iPhone as a hotspot for the iPad while we have been away camping. My monthly data allowance is not that much but it does the job for surfing the Internet and catching up on emails.

We have only stayed on one site (on The Isle of Wight) that offered free wifi but you had to be in the vicinity of the reception area.
