Hi has anyone used one of these dog collars ? I use a halti at the moment but don't like it but it's the only way I can stop my lab from pulling have tried all the usual things like stop start , turning the other way but to no avail .
I know folks who use both types, generally they say canny collar is better for smaller breeds and is easier for the dog to slip off. We used a Halti for our late springer spaniel and, for her, it was like a miracle cure! But what suits one won't suit another.
Don't bother spending money on gimmicks, get a slip lead and put it on your dog but leave it really loose below the dogs jaw, twist it so you have a figure of 8 and put the loop over dogs nose. Then tighten to suit your dog. We have 5 gundogs and my OH is a gundog trainer and runs classes. We use this method all the time and suggest it to everyone who has a pulling dog much better than the halti, as like the canny, you control from the back of the neck instead of underneath.

Had a canny collar in the past but a bit of a faff and broke fairly easily. I swear by SWAG (South Western Agility Group)head collars. Tough, easy to put on, cheaper than Canny Collar. Doesn't ride up, holds behind the head not turned in like competition obedience...

Tried this today can not believe bye difference in just one walk ,yes she tries to get it off but she does that on the halti as well any way a big thanks . Diann
No problem she will get used to it and will stop trying to paw it off. Glad it worked for you, eventually you should be able to walk her without it but for the minute you need to concentrate on lots of praise for walking nicely with it on. When you do take it off and try it without, don't do it at the beginning of the walk when she is excited, but near the end when she has run off steam, then a few gentle tugs back to remind her where she should be....... Not forgetting the praise when she's doing well.
