The rescue I got one of my dogs from organise transport runs via volunteers to get dogs transported . That way the dog is moved by people who care about its welfare
------------- Used to be LurcherPie until pc probs . Still a camper with 3 lovely Lurchers
there are dog transport volunteer networks on face book.
------------- "He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." In memory of Bear. 06/03/06 - 25/01/12 Izzie 23/09/07 - 25/03/13
also if the dog is an old dog then contact "the oldies club" my nephew and his wife often help with legs of the dogs journey to get them to their forever home
they either drive to manchester or birmingham and meet one of the other volunteers and then take the dog to the next swap over point
they are all volunteers and go out of their way to get the dogs to a forever home
Hi, thanks all for those very helpful suggestions. Much appreciated. Cheers
I will follow up on them but if I can't find something workable then I may have to give up on this bitch. There must be hundreds/thousands of dogs closer to me and looking for a new home, its just a question of finding the right one that will fit in with us.
I have a 15 year old wire haired fox terrier who really enjoyed the company of our foster Staffie, but she went back to her proper home a few weeks ago so I'm looking for another pal for him. I think a puppy might be a bit challenging for him so I'm looking for, ideally, a rough coated terrier bitch ideally aged 2+ eg Fox, Welsh, Bedlington type. Anywhere across the south west or south wales would be fine.
Yes, my own dog is quite old but he's got a few years left in him yet. He won 'Best Veteran' at a country fair last month
------------- Tackling life the Western District way
Anyway, if the rescue is anywhere in Kent, Surrey or Sussex, I'd happily get her to the Dorset/Wilts border if you can find someone to pick her up for the next leg of her trip. I used to do volunteer transport for a dog rescue charity.
I hope you manage to get her. I have a lakeland bitch that I would happily rehome on a bad day, but she would make the old fella's life hell, just like she does with my boy.
You could always try these people - http://www.petravelagent.com/ They specialise in relocating pets into and out of the country but it might be worth asking if they also relocate from/to different areas of this country.
