Hello, My boss has just seen an email on my pc asking for details of another job! I know that in itself it isn't illegal but the job is with a company who have intheir contract thay are not allowed to headhunt our staff. I may just lie and say it was for friend! Any ideas?? Thanks in advance. Mrs G.
I wouldn't say anything unless the boss asked about it, tbh. And if they do just say you were curious. It's true after all, And as you asked for the details it's hardly them headhunting, is it?
You could always say you were interested in the terms and conditions of the competitors job - if they were better use it to your advantage and suggest a pay rise - sometimes attack is the best form of defence!
Obviously only try this if you are good at your job!!
Thanks Guys. My boss can't read all my emails but I had nipped away from my desk and she sat at my desk briefly and there was the email I sent on my pc!
There was nothing to incriminate myself and I have decided to say I was asking on behalf of my friend who is looking to change jobs, Thanks to everyone for your input.
Honesty is the best policy or say nothing at all, which if she values you it might lead to a pay rise if she thinks she might be losing you like the others above have said.
I always used to look at the recruitment page in my lunch hour, if anything was said I just used to say that I was keeping my options open and laughed, she thought I was joking, but I wasn't!
