Topic: Weather south vendee at end of August?

We normally go away early August to the south vendee (near ile d'oleron last year). This year we were thinking about going the last two weeks of August. Can anyone let me know whether they have been this in this area this time of year and whether it has still been hot enough? I hate camping in bad weather! Thanks

We were there last 2 weeks of Aug this yr and it was between 23-30o during our stay. It was beginning to get cooler in evenings but we were able to sit out until 8.30pm without a fleece. Had one day of rain.

Ironically we have to go earlier next yr as son gets A level results towards end of Aug and we will be sorting his uni place!

We were just north of LaRochelle last two weeks in Aug and the weather was pretty good. Temp range was 23C to 32C, couple of days of rain, but still warm. Managed to sit out until midnight still in shorts had to put a fleece on in the last few days (we departed 1st Sept). Have rebooked for last two weeks in Aug next year.

You get good & not so good summers in the Vendee. This summer was exceptionally good, mostly hot & dry daytimes temps sometimes into the 30s with a couple of bad storms at night. There is little difference in the weather anytime in August, generally good but pot luck really, usually it is reasonable, sunny/cloudy temps 20-25degC, sometimes higher with cooler evenings

Go to Royan in the last two weeks of August and you will have great weather, and a lovely choice of sandy beaches and good campsites close to them!
