makes the kids better people more understanding towards people of all ages. Even now we still all go away camping together our daughter is 24 and son is 21.

It,s always good to do things together as a family. Doesn't matter what it is as long as the family does it together. So I have to say that Camping is definitely a good family activity. Camping fits all of the criteria. It let's children actively help out with setting up camp and all that entails. It gives them a taste of freedom in a secure setting. The lack of electronic equipment can also result in Families talking! surely not a bad thing. People who grow up in a supportive environment tend to be more tolerant send understanding of other people.

I agree with all of that. Plus it also gets them away from the television. They have to make their own activities.

Ds has just started secondary school as part of a homework he had to write an autobiograpy when I read it he had focused on holidays we have be to europe US & China, but he wrote' we started camping when I was 3. it is awsome' 17

My daughter is now 20 and does the same kind of holidays she did with us as a family. She and her boyfriend have now bought their own tent and we went away together in the summer.

Whether or not they are more understanding to other people would depend on the way they have been brought up I suppose, and the way the family behave while they are on holiday.

My daughter has just started secondary school too and has just completed the same HW for IT. All her slides were of camping trips- campfires, kayaking, hammocks, rope swings, new friends etc. Made me realise just what amazing experiences we all give to our children through camping.

Ahhhhhhhhh......and I thought they would grow up and think we were cheapskates! But our kids, now grown, remember their childhood camping holidays with great fondness.

We have always done car shows with our 2 so the group just keeps growing. We all like nothing better than a week away with freinds. like you say no TV, games xbox or ps. We sit about playing other games which is all ways a great laugh.

Do I Think..... no not just because they are camping. It's surely down to the parental guidance. Some people as we all know camp like slobs - leaving toilets filthy, rowdy all night kids left to run wild.

The children of the slob families will naturally grow up to be slobs as that is what they have been taught. The fact that they have been on a campsite will make little difference.

We started going camping in France with Canvas Holidays when our daughter was 6 and continued for many years. As our daughter grew up she decided to work with Canvas Holidays as a courier which she did and progessed to working privately with a campsite in the Dordogne which she did for another 3 summers. Her French was by then very good and stood her in great stead to progress in the travel industry and the media.

She is now a Mum herself and still goes with her family camping and teaching her little boy French

With camping I can usually go away a few tiems a year, which I could not do if I went abroad.   
As well as time to ourselves we sit around and play daft games when we are camping.
OK we ake things like DSs, mainly because there are times when we need to be in the tent, abut still want to do our own things.   

Mind you at home we do stuff together as well.   But more so when we are camping.
