Yesterday morning was the first one I have had to scrape ice of the windscreen, so looks like it is on it's way.

As for the forecast for a bad winter, they cannot get the weather right around here for the next day never mind a couple of months or so ahead so it will be a "wait and see" as usual and just be prepared for whatever turns up.

It's November - sharp frosts in November are not rare!!  If it wasn't for the media jumping on every little excuse for a massive headline we wouldn't be giving it a second thought. 

Other than seasonal trends, there is no way of forecasting the weather any more than a couple of weeks out (and anything over 2 or 3 days really is a best guess) - I saw a programme on TV early this year that showed how the hundreds of different computer models that meteorologists use throw up massively different results the more in advance they try to predict what's going to happen.  The atmosphere is a working model of true mathmatical chaos - effectively, a butterfly fluttering its wings in China really CAN cause a hurricane in Florida!
