I don't want to make you northerners jealous, but here in the south-east coastal area the temperature has only just dropped into single figures, and it's barely cold enough to have the heating on! Mind you it's very wet and windy, but there's been no sign of frost yet.
------------- Il vaut mieux vivre ses reves que rever sa vie
Yesterday morning was the first one I have had to scrape ice of the windscreen, so looks like it is on it's way.
As for the forecast for a bad winter, they cannot get the weather right around here for the next day never mind a couple of months or so ahead so it will be a "wait and see" as usual and just be prepared for whatever turns up.
It's November - sharp frosts in November are not rare!! If it wasn't for the media jumping on every little excuse for a massive headline we wouldn't be giving it a second thought.
Other than seasonal trends, there is no way of forecasting the weather any more than a couple of weeks out (and anything over 2 or 3 days really is a best guess) - I saw a programme on TV early this year that showed how the hundreds of different computer models that meteorologists use throw up massively different results the more in advance they try to predict what's going to happen. The atmosphere is a working model of true mathmatical chaos - effectively, a butterfly fluttering its wings in China really CAN cause a hurricane in Florida!

So lets stamp on any butterfly before it can flutter its wings. We will have stopped hurricanes straight away.
6.2 here last night. Its around 11.5 now and indoors its 18 degrees.
Not putting the heating on indoors if I can help it.
Thermostat/timer is set so low it only comes on if I flick the switch. Just going to put another jumper on and some warmer trousers. Not paying NPower any extra if I can avoid it.
