Buying a bargain on Ebay is about walking away from all the things that are not bargains. You cannot walk away from a toy auction towards Christmas once you are committed and the prices rises.
A child that demands a rare and expensive toy is spoiled and deserves nothing.
Came across £100 of john lewis vouchers on ebay. They sold at £97 plus £2 postage. I would have thought even a complete numpty could see it was only £1 off on £100. Surely not the risks and restrictions.
If you are selling its brilliant when people pay over the odds for stuff.
A little research prior to bidding can save a fair bit as others have mentioned. Its th way of the world, people expect everything now due to the way the world is moving so fastly due to technology.
I personally love the challenge of finding something cheaper by doing internet research others cant bo bothered and just use ebay by default.

My kids want things, but when they realise that there isnt enough money, they understand and are happy with what they get. But too many parents wont say "NO" to their kids, because "everyone else" has one. And because "everyone else" has one, and parents wont say "no" the perpetual cycle of expense continues. Xmas cost more and more each year, with some parents spending £1000 each on presents for their kids. Most parents spend more than they can really afford, so that their kids can be with the "in crowd".
I am not religious but Christmas shouldnt be about spending lots of money, it is a time for families to be together or at least think of each other.
------------- Never look down at anybody....
.....unless to offer a hand, to help them up
I might be a rarity...But I have never bought or bid on E bay for any thing...To be honest the whole process scares me for some obscure reason....
If there's something I want to buy online I usually google it....Trawl through a few online sites with a note pad and pen to hand and compare prices and delivery charges....Big circle round the cheapest...A bit of dithering and rechecking to make sure my eyes ain't deceiving me....Make sure I have the facts right and go for it....
Best bargains I have ever had was from a wee online s/hand shop(no longer trading) where I bought everything for carp fishing...Rods...Bivvies Beds..Etc etc etc for less than half the rrp....Goods as described...Delivered next day...No quibble refunds if not happy with goods etc(not that I needed it)
Since then I have had the odd wee triumph with camping related stuff....Monty 6...Brand new for less than half the rrp...Vango Halo for well below rrp etc etc etc..
I think the trick is...Is to walk away from something online that dos'nt seem quite right...Keep your money on your card till the right sort of price comes up.....
If only I could manage that while "Real Shopping" in the town centre....Money burning a hole in my pocket...1st shop you go into buy what it is you want without faffing about....then see the same item £££'s cheaper on your way home.....
Jelboy.
