just a thought, has anyone taken a hair drier on board a plane, i know in this day and age anything looking like a gun is not allowed, only we have a long stop over on our flight. waste of time trying to get through to speak to someone, cant see anything on the website, Rolls
You're allowed to take electrical items (like laptops and hairdryers) in your hand baggage, but they have to be removed and screened separately. Just check with security if you need to remove it and scan it separately.
Not sure which airport you are you flying from but as an example guidance at Luton or Bristol

Why lug it around the airport? just stick it in the hold.
I don't take anything into plane cabin I don't need whilst in the air
You obviously don't use Ryanair. We nearly always use them at good prices but never take hold luggage. If it doesn't fit in the cabin bag it doesn't go with us. It also saves a lot of time in the airport not messing about with check in and luggage retrieval.
As for the hair dryer I think it would be a problem but it will get inspected I think.

I recently flew with Monarch from Manchester to Venice. Security didnt question the travel hairdryer in my hand luggage. The bonus was being offered to put our bags in the hold without charge on the return flight
hairdryers are not a problem but liquid still is. Stansted is the worst, even took a jar of marmite off me last time and a liquid lip gloss because I hadn't put it in the clear bag with my other bits. But I did empty it in the bin and broke the lipstick so they couldn't use either.
