My son is poorly with this nasty illness at the minute and think that there should be more awareness about it. The amount of people who know little about it and have said "only cattle get it".......... oh no they don't! The human form is different to the animal version.
The symptoms are very similar to chicken pox and start off with dizziness, sore throat, headache ect. Then the blisters came out, very similar to chicken pox and come on the face, mouth inside and out, fingers and hands then feet. They are highly contagious and he is in agony because they on his throat and tonsils.
There have been several cases in my daughters infant school so I'm keeping my fingers crossed my others don't get it.
The only advice we were given by the doctor was paracetamol so we are trying to ride it through with him/
You have my sympathies, this horrible virus was rife last winter at the nursery where our daughter works, and a high proportion of the infants caught it including two of her own children. Its really horrible, and a couple of the babies had to be admitted to hospital as they had become dehydrated, there mouths being too painful to swallow adequate fluids.
I hope your littleone recovers well soon, its never nice to see your children so unwell, but at least they will have built up a good immunity incase they ever come into contact with the virus later in life.

My son (32) has just come down with this its driving him round the twist as most of the sours are on his feet, with just a few on his hands, he attended at a walk in centre and was told just to take parcetamol with plenty of fluids He doesn't know where he contracted it, at work or from his kids, again no one had any knowledge of the illness which appears to be getting round the country without any warnings being circulated
I was at the local drop in centre waiting to get some stiches removed a couple of weeks ago, and there were kids in htere, and one mum said to the other that it was hand foot andmouth - apparently it is doing hte rounds .
My son is 16. He said the worst part is his throat, says that it is like he is eating glass. I'm just hoping that no one else catches it from him here.
Cattle do not get hand foot and mouth you're getting confused with foot and mouth 2 completly different things. Hand foot and mouth is a mild virus normally in young children which will clear up in a few days.
Hand, foot and mouth disease is not the same as foot and mouth disease, which affects cattle, sheep and pigs. The two infections are unrelated, and you cannot catch hand, foot and mouth disease from animals.
We are just getting over hand foot and mouth the kids were quite ill with it, the younger girl finger nail is starting to fall of now which looks very sore, which is all put down to the virus. I had lots of spots on my head, one minute I was burning up the next I was freezing cold. We all had blister in the mouth.
