Been reading through this thread...
And in amongst the good advice and support given...I as a complete layman on all legal matters picked up on some things...
1) Your long standing neighbours who sold this lady the house...Did they ever complain about the trees either as an eyesore/A sun block/Or causing structural damage to the porch....
If not I would be very suspicious of someone who starts complaining months after moving in and would want to see the initial survey that should have been done when they bought the house...Surely a surveyor would have picked up on the damage said trees were causing at that time??
2)Has this tree "Spcialist" they contacted written an official report on their findings....Or was this information passed on to your neighbour via a friendly chat over a cup of tea on the back porch??
3) There are more than one tree specialist out there...If possible I would be acquiring the sevices of my own spcialist to see if their findings agree with theirs...
4)Do your trees block sunlight to the porch morning or evening...And are your neighbours folk who like to sit in their garden and enjoy whatever sunlight we get...
It is possible this whole thing boils down to that fact..They want the trees removed for some light in the garden at no cost to themselves...
I reckon whatever your insurers have said regarding the matter..That there is a fair way to go before anyone sets about these trees with a chainsaw...
Jelboy.
Too late...if you read a few posts up, the trees are now down.
It does all sound rather suspicious to me...I'm sorry you've felt bullied into cutting them down...she sounds like a right cow.
I would monitor her barking dogs, log when they are barking and for how long and then complain to the environmental health department...nothing like a bit of payback! Seriously though, I think this woman needs to be stood up to, so when she starts with the next problem, please stand up to her and I bet she'll soon back down...bullies tend to when given a bit of their own medicine.
I hope your husband finds work soon and things start to look up x
