Well yesterday I was decorating the tree inside the house... when I suddenly thought of the small conifer outside the front door, which is now adorned with baubles and tinsel! I wouldn't have thought of it without this thread, so there you go!

Several trees along the road have been adorned by lights, even though they are bare, they look pretty - if a little spooky!

How delightful - sounds like the festive equivalent of guerrilla gardening! Comes into the 'commit random acts of kindness and senseless beauty' category. It must really brighten up the short winter days. I think it probably works better in a rural environment; I have a feeling that if it was done round here it might be interfered with, which is a shame.

Sounds really good...but I wonder how long it'll be before  some over zealous council "officials" would start banging on about how they contravene "Planning" and/or "Health & Safety" regs.. 24

The best impromptu display round here is the big bright tree the firefighters put on the top of the training tower at the fire station. they have lights down the side of it, too.

Our local Council officials do have some odd peculiarities but these displays have gone on for years and no complaints!!

There is a massive roundabout near me, a few years back now, just after christmas a bunch of trees 'appeared' complete with decs. some took and grew and they have been there ever since. A few more have popped up over the years too.

Would love to know how they pulled it off as its a bloody busy bit of road.
