a survey in 2013, found that well over 75% of webuyanycar.com customers, got less than 75% of the initial offer price.
The practice is to overvalue the car on the initial offer, then value it down on inspection. In some cases by over 50%

I have just discovered that there seems to be two companies. One is 'we buy any car.com' and another is 'we will buy your car.com. Whether or not these are the same I don't know but they probably operate the same.

Ive always sold on Ebay. Work out the price you want then ad on say £200 plus advertise it as a fixed price plus offers.
Weve always been happy with the prices we got.

We always do auctions with a very low start. Tempt them to view then do a deal face to face.

Indeed there are several with very similar sounding names. The majority offer high values, then as you say, they nitpick on very minor details until they have managed to give a true offer much below that of market value in the Glasses Guide book. Yesterday l received a phone call regarding a fixed offer price from a company who offer a price regardless of any inspection, they offered me around half the market value of the dealers trade in price, to which l told them only a fool would be stupid enough to accept, and im no fool!
Were off to another dealers later today to see what they offer as a deal, and the first dealer has also rang back, but its now going to be the one who gives us the best package. The first dealer quote of £679 for a towpack has now been rejected, and if the offer today is no cheaper, then our towbar will be fitted at the same place that fitted my last two cars, they did an excellent job and the quote for fitting the CRV is just £450 inc vat.

I got offered £5,800 but sold my car privately for £7,400, Bit more hastle but I can take that for £1,600 and I am sure the £5,800 would have been reduced if I had taken it in.
