Please look out for this little chap on your travels. He went missing from Oldham but he could be anywhere. He was stolen from his owner's car whilst she was visiting her mum in hospital,The Royal Oldham.Thank you.
Will keep an eye out for it, if its been stolen then unlikely it will be found. Sadly thats what happens when you leave a dog in a car. Hope he turns up safe and sound.

I didnt put the comment on but can see the reason for the post, if a dog is locked in a car and somebody reports it surely the RSPCA or such would remove the dog. Who's to know how long a dog has been left for ??
I often leave my dog in my car. Can't understand why not? Its never for long periods. It's owner only left him in the car with another dog whilst she visited her mother in hospital. It was in the hospital car park.
Anyway, Good News!!! He was found on the streets and he has been reunited with his owner.

Clever dog to open and close the car door before going for a walk.

But on the subject of leaving a dog in a car, would you leave a young child unattended in a car for 30mins or so whilst you visited someone in hospital? Of course not, and it should be the same for your dog, he/she is easily stolen and much easier to get rid of than a child too. And most dog owners LOVE their dog as much as any other family member.

At the end of the day I would be devastated if someone stole my little dog but no way could I put her on a par with my grandchildren so the answer is no I would not leave a child alone in a car. I never have and never would but I would leave my little dog if the occasion arose.I obviously don't leave her for long or anywhere where I think she would be vunerable.
It's a very debatable subject and every dog owner would have their own opinion as to whether they would leave their beloved pet in a car or not.
From an animal welfare point of view there is nothing wrong with leaving a dog in a car for short periods. Providing the weather isn't too warm obviously. If a dog is used to being in the car most will either go to sleep or sit and watch the world go by.
I wouldn't leave a dog in a public place for more than five, or ten minutes at a push for two reasons. Dog theft and the fact that it's all to easy for a 'well meaning citizen' to make a phone call. Then you've got either the police or the RSPCA to deal with.
Wouldn't leave a child alone in a car as I know of too many incidents of hand brakes being taken off, heads trapped in electric windows and other disasters. Even the smartest hound can't make these happen. We sometimes leave our dog in the car for several hours at a time. She's in a big crate (with a bowl of water), so if the car door opens for any reason, she can't just run off in a strange place - the car was burgled in a multistorey, bags stolen but dog was not. In summer, all windows a bit open, silver sun screens keep the interior cool. Life can't be ruled by the dog, or we'd never leave the house. She's reached nearly 13, and has come to no harm.
