Hi all. I am looking at a 2010 Peugeot 308 Diesel which has a £30 a year road tax. I am having difficulty finding an alternative make of car of the same year and similar size also with the low road tax. The car I'm looking at is a shade under £6k. I don't want to discount something obvious so hope you good folks can come up with some suggestions.

Does it have a DPF? If so (which is mostly likely), will you do the mileage to keep the thing running properly.
We are switching to petrol after having a 04 diesel for six years. we don't do anything like the mileage we used to these days. Its cheaper to get a petrol engine for us now.
------------- No, really?!

The Focus's I've been looking at are a grand dearer! I have found a 2010 Nissan Note in my price range but I don't think it has a low tax. I have found one Citroen C4 with the added bonus of Cruise Control so I'm going to check it and also the Nissan Note out on Saturday. Thanks all!

I really wouldn't get hung up on the tax. In terms of total cost of ownership it is a small proportion of running costs.
My wife's last car was £30 a year, it was so underpowered it was awful to drive.

I had a C4 1.6 and it was excellent. Towing a van - 38mpg, unhitched 62mpg, round Lincolnshire's mountains, 71mpg! Road tax £30, plenty room, even in the Coupe version, and easy for the missis to drive. Never any problem with the DPF.
------------- Some days you are the dog,
some days you are the tree.
Goodbye tension, hello Pension!
