If you were injured and may suffer as a result in future or as your son is now terrified of getting in a car, then you should tell your Dr and insurance co. Let them take it on not a greedy jump on the bandwagon lot.

It was the one of the greatest shocks of my life to find, when I rolled the car on a single track road two years ago that the neck fracture (C5/6) they found on the x-ray was decades old!Back then, we didn't have all this litigation but at least I know why I have intermittent but very painful issues.

I had these people ring me after I had a car accident. The only problem was I wasn't in the car at the time of the accident as it was parked up and I was walking towards my car when the ********* hit my car. Cheek of the other driver said I'd pulled out in front of him !!! Anyway thats another story.

Obviously as others have said get yourself checked out and even get your son checked if he isn't getting over the accident - then let your insurance company sort it out.

Perfectly timed thread!!We are going through this situation at this very moment..so I thought a quick ask on the forum might help.Condensed version of the story first..An elderly chap waiting at the junction whilst wife drove past..hit the wrong pedal and accelerated straight into the side of her car which spun through 360 degs.hitting both kerbs and being written off.The Mrs. suffered genuine whiplash injuries..in writing-from a Dr. and a lot of muscular damage to neck,chest,back and arms.The other party,s insurance rang very quickly admitting 100% liability..so no need to even contact our insurance..which appealed to us! Car was quickly removed and a hire car delivered.Payment for the written off car eventually agreed..not enough-but needs must.Out of pocket expenses and loss of earnings eventually paid up.Which leaves only the matter of injury compensation to be sorted..The offer received was not satisfactory and we were told thats the final offer-take it or leave it.We have legal cover on our own insurance so resorted to involving them--not realising they only offer advice(own fault..read the small-print!)Their advice...get an injury claim specialist to take the case on!!!This is where we are at now.A couple of questions for you..Any recommendations for a good company based on your experience? Do these people take a % of your compensation and if so -how much? or do they add their costs to your compensation for the other side to pay? Looking forward to your replies---Thanks

Injury claims specialists aren't all that, you're just another claim to them. If you have a solicitor you trust then go and see them, maybe the one that does your conveyancing and sets up your wills, their fees are usually far less than these grab a quick buck for you firms.

Someone ran into the back of the wife's car in a car park just before Christmas a very slight bump needed a new bumper & a number plate.
Other driver admited liability & her insurance company called to arrange repair & a courtesy car so no need to pay any excess.
It was unbeleivable how many calls she got asking if she was ok & telling her she could claim compensation for injury.
As I said it was a very slight bump & she was not injured in any way. Fair enough if someone is genuinely injured but too many people are claiming imaginary ailments & we're all paying for it through our premiums.

This is my recommendation.

I was rear ended whilst stationary at a traffic island, by an SUV travelling at 50mph.

Lyons Davidson were recommended by my insurer and were very good. The treatment for you son to over come his fear of travelling is quite expensive so you do need to speak to someone.

Weetam, same here. A woman ran into my car in a car park at about 2mph and I still get loads of calls. Some of them get really aggressive, it's very annoying.
