I am registered with TPS but that doesn't block international calls, apparently.

When I saw the charge I queried it with India - seems that when you press the button the call is assumed to be from your line. £15 was a bit much as son realized his mistake almost immediately and killed the connection.

We are with TPS and still get loads of calls. The International ones don't seem to care if you're with TPS or not.

It winds me up the most when I'm asleep after working nights, and I get the prerecorded ones. There isn't even anyone I can shout at then!

It depends on my mood and how many calls. Sometimes I'm polite and sometimes I am quite rude. I find a good sweary rant quite cathartic. search youtube for angry bt customer. It wasn't me honest but I have been tempted.

Not sure what you mean "I queried it with India". In my experience you cannot be charge for receiving an incoming call. Can you post the number that was called? This will be on your bill alongside the charge.

Are you sure that your son has not just phone a premium rate number?

Oliver, sorry for the sarcasm! By phoning India I meant BT to query the charge.

My 25 year old son is far too savvy to ring premium numbers; he is (expletive deleted) furious with himself for having hit the wrong button but I'm not mad at him - I'd gone shopping and he heard his 92 year old Nan calling in distress. He killed the call and went to my Mum's aid. How many 25 year old males do you know that would deal with daily an incontinent, blind, wheelchair bound 92 year old when his Mum does essential tasks? Let's face it, there's plenty of older, supposedly wiser, folks who wouldn't do that. You must have a very poor experience of younger people to make that comment and I feel sorry for you if that's the case.

To answer your question, I was not able to get the number from BT - I'm still waiting an answer why but - as usual with that company, I'll probably be in my grave before I get any response. It doesn't show on my bill and it's been added to the VERY long list of complaints about our phone and broadband service.

If you're with BT you have access to an itemised bill. No need to ask BT for the number, just look on the bill.

It certainly seems to me that someone must have made the call. As I said earlier you don't get charged for incoming calls.

P.S. If you think India is bad, my insurance company has an office in a country where I can't understand what they are saying

If I get a marketing call or an unwanted sales call I either pass the phone to little legs and tell him that the nice lady/gent on the phone wants to know all about Minecraft or just put the phone on the arm of the chair and go back to doing what I was before.
