Was there for 5 days last year. Take plenty of cough medicine its polluted to heck. But everywhere we went day or night never felt worried at all. Dont use tuk tuks, use Taxis, just as cheapo and have A/C. Red light areas are well known, street food was fantastic, neither of us got Bangkok belly. The MTR is cheap and a great way to get around longer distances. Beaches not too far away. Hotels, drop at least a "star" off to be realistic. ermmmmmmmmmmmmm thats it I think.
