My daughter is going to work in Bangkok, teaching.Any tips ,advice would be welcome.I am just a bit worried for her,she doesn't seem that bothered though!

Was there for 5 days last year. Take plenty of cough medicine its polluted to heck. But everywhere we went day or night never felt worried at all. Dont use tuk tuks, use Taxis, just as cheapo and have A/C. Red light areas are well known, street food was fantastic, neither of us got Bangkok belly. The MTR is cheap and a great way to get around longer distances. Beaches not too far away. Hotels, drop at least a "star" off to be realistic. ermmmmmmmmmmmmm thats it I think.

Haven't lived there but toured Asia some years ago which included Bangkok.  People are lovely, smiles for everyone and friendly.  Traffic is a nightmare!  Lots to see and do within easy reach.  We felt safe walking around the City.

A friend of mine has lived there for the last 24 years and loves it. However when he first arrived he got in a taxi at the airport which turned out to be a bogus one ended up with all his money and passport stolen.

Don't touch a Thai persons head (most sacred part of the body) and never show the soles of your feet ( lowest and filthiest part of the body).

when we were on holiday we met a british guy who taught thai- history in english at the university he told us no tuk tuk -keep your money close to you - & most places to eat are very good even the street vendors as they buy in the morning & sell out by the end of the day dont worry she wont be the only english speaker there- she wont be on her own--we always felt safe even late at night
