firefox is very slow to start, it is pathetic, i get the message every day now "firefox is slow to start, reset firefox" i do this and the very next day it reverts back, I KNOW IT IS SLOW I WANT TO KNOW THE REASON,i have stopped every prog except 1 from loading up at the start,(you tube)but it is no quicker at all, any ideas as to why it is so slow.think i will go with opera , grrrrrrrrrr.
Mine has been playing up recently too tho I do know it has been updated recently. Prob worth clicking on the orange firefox tab at top left then moving the cursor to 'help' then 'about firefox' and it should tell you if it needs to update. The latest one is firefox 28.
Firefox has been slow to start over the last couple of days for me as well but seems better this morning. Until now I have found it the best browser and I am hoping it was just a minor glitch that has now been solved. Obviously nothing to do with our computers.
Why not just change to Google Chrome as it runs rings round Firefox
------------- Experience enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
Is it it the browser though, or the user's computer? Fact is Firefox works ok, its quick & sharp as is both Chrome & IE, theres little to choose between them. If these individual browsers were as slow & as useless as some make out then the internet would be in trouble. Both Firefox & Chrome can become corrupted for whatever reason but if your computer is ok then reload them & they should work ok, if not it must be the user's computer, how can it be anything else?
I do have all 3 browsers set to delete cookies & history on closure which might help, perhaps?

and it also conflict with almost all flash players and readers
it also autoupdates of web sites (just like IE)
and thats bad for your pc
it also runs at 4 time the pc usage as firefox and almost 8 times what opera does.
ROlls
make sure you temp files and folders are cleaned out.
check that there wasnt a problem installing the last update.
or even better export your bookmarks (so you can re add them) and reinstall the programe
I agree. I had used IE for years but started getting more and more frustrated with it and when it wouldn't let me update to the latest version I kicked it into touch and downloaded Chrome.
Unfortunately there seemed to be lots of conflicts with websites not loading properly when using Chrome so I went back to IE again. Still frustrated, I re-downloaded Chrome in case the first download had been corrupt but had the same problems again.
I am now using Firefox and (touch wood) it is running fast and smoothly now.
With firefox you can back up your profile. Its a hidden file that allows you to reinstall it on another pc.This means all your bookmarks are there and also all your autologins and more etc too.
Try starting Firefox in safe mode and see if that improves things. Safe mode starts Firefox without the numerous plug ins. If it runs fine like that its one of the plug ins if not its more likely to be your pc than FF.
Hold shift key down and double click the item. You will get a dialog box asking if you want to start FF in safe mode choose start in safe mode and off you go.
I am on firefox, I had noticed that it has been running slower than normal lately. Used to use IE and had problems so tried Chrome, lots of problems for me too. Finally switched to firefox and not had any problems at all up until this week. I need to do some updates on the PC so maybe its down to that
