Just got my renewal quote and although no claims it's up by over 10%. So I go looking.
AA have a good price but customer service and claims handling reviews are horrendous. But so are many others reviews.
Can anyone recommend AA or any other insurer? Tried Caravan club but we're obviously not in their target market as the quote was 50% more than my renewal and almost 3 times the AA's quote.
Try Caravan Guard, should get a discount with being a UKCS member. I deal with people on a daily basis who are the unfortunate victims of Accidents etc and the service that AA and RAC give is very poor to say the least.
The recomendation at insurance renewal time, both car & home, is always to shop around for the cheapest quote. The renewal quote from your present company will always be higher & they hope you will pay it to subsidise the lower rates offered to new customers. If you want to stay with your present insurer then hit them with the lowest quote & usually they will price match...Thats how the system works.
All you will get here is people's personal experiences which may be good & bad from same company. What you do need to do is carefully read the t&c's on any policy you are considering to ensure it offers the cover you require. The basis of many claims that go wrong is failure to read the t&c's & failure by customer to fully disclose their circumstances.
My most recent claim was with LV. Handled very well and settled within a few weeks. However despite it being the other driver's fault and my no claims wasn't affected their renewal quotes the last two years have been horrendous,
I had AA insurance when I had my car (now I drive a camper van). I actually found them very helpful - especially on the day when I put petrol into my diesel car.......they couldn't have been more helpful. I had no probs with customer service. If it's the best quote, go for it.x
For what it's worth I regard Insurance as the same as going through the door at Ladbrokes.
They're having a bet with me that I will make a claim. I'm betting I won't. The difference is that I pay and don't get anything back if I win.
EVERY YEAR!!! I check ALL the comparison sites and AFTER EACH CHECK I clear my 'Cookies'.
I make a note of the top five Companies in terms of price and then I go onto Quidco and see if any of the five are offering a discount. If they are I compare those prices with the information I have.
The proof as they say is in the eating. This year I am with Swinton Brokers using an Insurance Co. I've never heard of (apparently they are owned by Swinton, always a good sign) and net, I'm paying £119 for fully Comp., me and the wife, fully protected NCB. on an Audi A6 Estate admittedly a 2002 model worth £3000 and without legal cover. That will do for me.
Second admission. This year I won't be tugging as I've got a motorhome so I don't need the Foreign travel Comp that I had last year.
