I don't go to these type of sites but would imagine they are holiday type parks with lots of facilites (pools, bar, entertainment, etc) - hence the higher price.   I know my sister paid £800 for a week in a static on a site like this and that was years ago.

You can get cheaper if you go for a more basic site.  Some sites still out there between £10-20 a night!

The prices are more than French sites with better facilities I've discovered. Luckily we don't we really do commercial sites. Although saying that take a look at warner farm part of bunn leisure. It's got the pool and all the entertainment and very good value. Just to add when we went if was about £65 for 3 nights non ehu in October This included the entertainment and pool passes . A family swim for use normally costs £10 so good value for us.

I find that you have to look around, work out what is on site, and how many of the facilities you would actually use.
I can on,y go away for one week this summer, as both kids have different Scout camps to go to, and on my chosen site there is nothing, but as it is right. On. Bala lake, weather permitting we will spend a lot of time just messing around on the edge of the lake, and I will spend time reading.

Non EHU in October is not really a fair comparison with OP's complaint. Warner farm high season EHU is £47 per night for 2 adults 2 children. An extra £4 for a dog.
