to exit their vehicle and walk along the dual carriageway in the gap we made for the emergency vehicles.
Yesterday not 20mins into our journey on the A14 westbound we came to a standstill, 10mins later unmarked police car pushes through, then in the sky we see the Air Ambulance and police helicopter - you know from this it cannot be good and that there must have been an accident.
But then we see people walking from behind us huffing and puffing in the heat or because someone is holding them up I don't know which. One guy is walking his toddler along in barefeet bare in mind emergency services are passing as well as motorbikes.
After an hour we begin to crawl forward whilst these muppets start running back to their vehicles, one lady decides to try and create a 3rd lane and drive through the centre of us, as she draws alongside our car she is only texting on her bloody phone - I ranted at her just could not believe her behaviour and selfish thinking.

Thought and prayers to the family of those involved.

As u say hope those involved are ok.As for the idiots they should be fined for risking there and others safety.

Having been involved in a nasty RTA on motorway in rush hour I know how quickly the police work to get roads open with the public's safety being there 1st concern. An hour after mine as hubby had arrived to take me home and we needed police help to get back on motorway from hard shoulder he turned round and said I would go now. There had been an accident 100 yards from his car cause someone was too busy looking on hard shoulder!

We were caught in 2 accidents at either end of our run to Norfolk the other week. Had to pitch up in the pitch black. But, sooner that than actually be part of the accidents.

Have to say though, the UK police are world renowned for keeping roads closed longer than anyone else after crashes.

Do they do the job any better - i doubt it!

And they wonder why the education system is in such disarray and it's no wonder as some parents lack some basic common sense themselves especially those pathetic morons walking a bare footed toddler towards an unsafe accident zone. The law does actually state that pedestrians and cyclists are not allowed on any motorway so realistically any offenders over the age of 16 should be arrested as the Police would have grounds to prosecute.

At a recent RTA on a Motorway, the Police were shocked to see drivers filming the Accident with their mobiles.

So they trained several In Car cameras on the vehicles, and filmed them.

They intend identifying the vehicles and drivers, and Prosecuting them.

Now that is what I call perfect pay back

Davep that was our local telegraph motorists seen filming accident on the A45. I think I may have actually punched the air when I heard they would be sending out fines for that.

As we were driving off yesterday a guy was still walking back to his vehicle. I would sooner be in a jam than in the accident.
The sad thing was we were on our way to visit hubby's family in Manchester as his cousin passed away from a heartache aged 35 last week and we were sat watching these idiots.

The problem is that the nature of our roads, plus the volume of traffic, means that any road close is going to cause big problems. There are not many countries like the UK in that respect. The people working in the road need I be safe too, a lot of emergency services and from other agencies are killed on the road each year. Also people deserve a good investigation and explanation when they are killed or have life changing injuries.

Yes I agree these smart motorways, sounds like a recipe for disaster.

when we go down to Cornwall from south yorks we do M1 A42/M42 M5 and the M42 is a smart m/way but you are forever changing lanes from using hard shoulder running lane back to near side lane you could if you are not aware be off the m/way if traffic is heavy I must admit I tend to stay in the second lane if there is hard shoulder running , And the debris in the running lane is a nightmare malc1945
