Words cannot describe the utter contempt and sheer hatred I have for these selfish lazy filthy vile people who rather than drive another mile to a recycling centre, they are happy to ruin a lovely path through a nice wooded area by dumping their disgusting rubbish.
Penalties aren't severe enough.
Sorry about the rant, it just really gets to me

A big issue around here. We have a local lane - gypsy lane. Say no more - the lane and surrounding roads are often blocked. Loads tipped across the road.
It's been going on for years. Catching the culprits seems to be totally beyond our local authority. They have now put up a few "no tipping" signs. That'll do it I am sure.

And if the local authority do find out who tipped it and there's a conviction I think they may be able to apply the proceeds of crime act - as the culprit has benefited by not having to pay to dump it. I could be wrong but I have heard this could be applied in this way.

We have the same trouble, being in a small village3 miles out of town.
A few months ago when out with the dog I saw a van parked down an old farm road and the driver was pulling bags of building waste out of the back. When he saw me watching he put the bags back in the van and drove off.
I phoned the council and gave them his registration, they said they would keep it on record in case the rubbish was found dumped anywhere else.

Well the council don't seem to do damned all around our gypsy lane apart from put up a few signs. I have before now counted over 30 full tipped loads along the road. It can't be difficult to catch them when they tip so much.
I think it suits the council to have it all tipped in one place.

Unfortunately there will always be these kind of people who do not give a damn. I honestly think its almost mission impossible for councils or individuals to catch even a very small percentage of them.
I agree the penalties should be stiffer and there vehicles should be crushed!

We now have a new trend of people piling household rubbish on the grass verge outside their block of flats near here (not good items - real rubbish). Every week there is cardboard, old TVs, broken furniture etc. Very neatly stacked but still rubbish that remains there until the council takes it away.
The Council says they know about it but cannot identify the culprits as no letters or anything to give a clue. So now not just the alleyways with fly tipping but the residents too doing it. The waste paper bin at top of street outside the shops is also used as a dumping place for bags of household rubbish. Never happened until recently.

Try living on a main road right next to a bridleway.
The council have just done a nice job of tarmacing and edging the centre of the path and the other week While I was washing the motorhome I saw 2 men actually burying a dead dog 20 metres up the path in the verge!!
Anyway they happily (not) went away with their little dog and spade, the tall one declined the offer of wearing the spade as a necklace
Nothing at all shocks me anymore

Our council are actually worse than pathetic on this subject.
A full, large skip filled with all sorts (bricks, timber, plaster, asbestos sheet, toys, general waste etc) was abandoned on a quiet country lane nearby. Unlit road, on a bend, no houses, asking for someone to run into it and get seriously hurt/killed. I reported it to the council and was told they would have to leave it for five days in case anyone was using it!
The skip was obviously stolen with all identifying marks being removed. After a week I went back to the council and asked them what they would do about finding the culprit, to be told `we don`t know who is responsible`. Thats because they couldn`t be bothered to find out - there were letters addressed to the guy who had filled the skip in bags on the top. They reluctantly spoke to the homeowner who admitted the stuff was from his house, but `didn`t know who he got the skip off`.
When I pointed out to the council that the waste producer is ultimately responsible for his waste and so should pay for the safe disposal (thats why you need to ensure you use a registered waste carrier), I was told "that can`t be right/never heard of that/we always sort it out"
So they are happy to let the fly-tippers off because it requires getting off their butts and getting away from their desks, yet whinge about lack of money when essential services to the elderly and infirm are being decimated. Only in Local Government.
