Just had a look and they will transfer up to 9 months on to your new passport. I am a bit out of touch with the cost of these things though. Just renewed photo on driving license for £24.50!
Have now marked on calendar earliest date we can apply for renewal.

It is not the case that every new passport applicant has an interview. Both my husband and I have just got passports because our son has emigrated to USA. I had an interview but my OH did not. Also there are regional offices that you can have your interview at but they only open limited hours so I had to wait a month for an appointment otherwise I would have had to go to Liverpool. As we have not planned on going anywhere yet, just wanted to have them handy in case we needed to get to him quickly, I chose to go locally. My OH said they probably thought I looked dodgy lol.

I just called the passport office. They said my son will need to have an interview 😔 it's been five weeks already since his application was submitted and no letter with contact details to make appt. The man was pleasant enough but said it's a waiting game and I'll just have to wait for the letter.
He's not travelling until mid-August but he is meant to be camping with us 25 July-4 Aug and has a fishing trip in the middle of those dates too. Fortunately we live in London so hopefully it will be straightforward to get an appt. I was a bit frustrated though ... Why does he need an interview?? He's British born and bred and both my husband and I are too. No wonder they have such a back log of applications. Surely they should only interview cases that are not straight-forward or have complications!

My daughter had the text to say accepted and it will be here within three weeks, that expires in the middle of next week so I really hoping it arrives because she's going early August and we are away end July so I want to know it's sorted - hopefully it'll be ok, it's quite reassuring to read some of the msgs on here.
