It's not just dogs. A few years ago we were walking on the cliff path back to Tenby from Saundersfoot. 2 people were standing in the path admiring the view. The path was narrow and as we approached the elderly lady stepped back but the wrong way and plummeted off the cliff. Fortunately there was a gorse bush 10 foot below which she fell into. I scrambled down, got her untangled and helped her back up but only after she nearly pulled both of us off!! She was covered in cuts and very shocked but able to walk back to her mobile home, 50 yards away and get treatment.
Ironically when we got her back on the path she was still the wrong side and nearly repeated the maenouvre AGAIN.
Be careful out there.

Good pic Bob, bet owners were relived

I think the owners must have been. They had waited a very long time. I don't know how long the dog had been down the cliff but obviously they had to call the coastguard and then wait for them to arrive, and then it seemed to take forever waiting for them to get the gear set up safely. The actual rescue didn't take long and as the man descended the cliff the dog, which was on a flat'ish section, came up to him wagging his tail. The dog was too big to go in the red recovery bag so had to be pushed up the cliff in front of the abseiler pretty well sat in his knees and there were a couple of difficult bits but all went well.

Apart from the poor dog of course it took about 9 or 10 Coastguards in total...I hope the owner gets the bill. They will certainly have learned a lesson I think.
