Hello fellow campers, its about time we renew our car, have been looking around and we are quite interested in a Volkswagen Touareg 3.0 V6 TDI SE. Has anyone out there have had any experience with this vehicle? Would appreciate some feedback before we commit.
Thanks Jane xxx
A Friend of mine has just purchased a 56 plate 5 ltr TDi. He'd had it for and hour and was waiting to pull out into traffic. Stamped on the gas pedal to get out quickly and the prop shaft dropped out.
A common fault apparently but probably only relates to the grossly overpowered 308bhp 750nm of torque v10 tdi.
Not much info to go on. New or old being the most important.
I assume you need such a car.
Any used 4x4 is always a potential nightmare. You don't know what abuse it has had and they aren't cheap to fix. Check timing belt has been changed, not a cheap job on a 6 cylinder diesel and it can get forgotten, or the car is sold just before it is done.
New nearly new, you have a warranty, but VW sometimes don't rate highly in customer satisfaction surveys and don't believe 'if only everything in life was as reliable as a VW'.
You dont say what your pulling but,ive just recently bought the Tiguan 2litre TDI diesel and that will tow 2 tons and it gets better milage than what your looking at.
Friend and fellow caravanner just sold theirs. Lovely looking car but they said the tax (£500 a year), fuel consumption and running/repair costs combined was no longer viable for them. They got a brand new Kuga instead.
Forgot about the Kuga, will have to get DH to have a look around for those. It wouldn't be for towing, the most stuff we carry now are diving equipment at the weekend. The state of the roads here are bad and it would be wise to get something now instead of waiting until later. Our Mondeo we bought from the UK almost 5 years ago is still brilliant and no issues and it would be a shame to get rid of it. Thanks for all the advice.
