Hi Madge, we had a Sabadell account up to Feb this year, we had opened it last year with €20. However we were getting monthly statements with increasing fee charges. So we decided we would close the account and pay off the outstanding balance. A friend who lives in Spain agreed to do this for us and we gave her the cash (over €100 now) and a letter from us to sort it. However when she rang them to ensure she could do it, they said there was nothing owing - all she had to do was go to a branch with our letter and close it! We didn't ask any more questions
