Just wondered if anyone who knows Liverpool could help please.
We plan to arrive at Liverpool Lime Street on Friday(tomorrow)at 6pm to see the puppets.Would we able to walk from there to Newsham Park to see them meet up around 7pm. Is it far to walk?
What do you think our chances are for seeing the puppets with our small grandchildren?
Hi, it's too far for to walk ( and not the most safest of neighbourhoods to pass through). There's a taxi rank at the station and depending on traffic would cost about £5 roughly to the park. Afterwards you could walk to either prescot road side of park and get the no 10 bus into town or walk to west derby road side and get 12/13 or18 bus back into town. All these bus routes stop on lime street outside the station.
I think a taxi would be best to get to the park on time because all the buses heading that way will be packed.
Looks like a couple of miles at least on my street atlas, and quite a lot of it is uphill; not so good for little ones. Edge Hill or Wavertree Technology Park stations on the line that goes to Newton-le-Willows would be closer, if you can get a connection from Lime Street. Still more than a mile, but not as hilly. here's a link to the trainline website: http://www.thetrainline.com/buytickets/combinedmatrix.aspx?Command=TimeTable#Journey/LIV/WAV/25/07/14/18/0/Dep/25/07/14/20/0/Dep/1/0//0;0;0

------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!
I went to see the giants on Friday. Our train was full from Euxton, and from what we heard the trains were full the nearer they got to the city so some living nearer could not get on them.
We walked around all day seeing them in both the morning and afternoon. there were 1000's of people everywhere but a wonderful atmosphere. No major police presence except to be helpful, lots of helpers and lovely people. A great stressfree, fun day out.
Lime St Station had a queueing system outside so you where directed to the your train when it came into the station. very efficient all round.
Good old Liverpool
