Yes but you are not a trained RAF pilot ordered to do it they are whether they would refuse is debateable but it must be one of the scenarios they will have been briefed about .

IF it mean't killing several hundred to save possibly thousands then I don't think they would hesitate.

If the RAF pilot refused he would probably face a court martial on his return to base.

If he didnt shoot the plane down and it was a real terrorist attack, which killed thousands of people, he would certainly face serious charges.

Fortunately it WAS a hoax, and nobody was hurt. So thankfully nobody had to make that awful decision.
