We are off to benidorm for a lads weekend next week with ryanair , we are only travelling with hand luggage. We are flying at 6:30 am does anyone know what time we need to be at the airport to make the flight
If it's from East Midlands get there early. They have a lot of flights depart early and nowhere near enough people checking in.
Never flown with just hand luggage though so if you don't need to visit the desks and go straight to security it shouldn't be too bad. worth the extra there though for speedy lane. Gets you to the bar faster!
------------- Dogs die in hot cars!
They also die if you leave them in the freezer.
Please keep your dogs at room temperature!
Usually when i fly at that time in the morning, there is generally less people as its one of the first flight.. i used to get there for just before 5, check in and then go through security and then chill and get a coffee :)
Thanks for that, If you check in on line do they also have check in desks at the airport, sorry to sound a bit vague but never flown with them before and I am arranging it all...lol
I would also say to be careful with your hand luggage size, check online what size you are allowed.
In my experience with Ryanair there is usually someone walking up and down the queue at the gate with a thing like a cardboard box which they slide over your bag.
If it doesn't fit over your bag then it becomes hold luggage and will cost a you a packet!
------------- It is a wise man who has something to say.
It is a fool who has to say something.
Never seen the staff use the box but there is always a metal frame to test luggage size. I have seen people literally stand on their luggage to squeeze it in and folks take stuff out & carry it loose (to be returned to the case as soon as they are through.
I believe the rules have now been relaxed a little to allow a 2nd small bag about handbag size.

Two issues:
Find out the current status with the roadworks around Manchester Airport - they are laying tram lines and diverting traffic. Earlier this year it took me ages to get from M56 to terminal three as we had to go on a lengthy detour.
Try and find out how long security is taking!
"Travelled to Malta Saturday 9th August, returned 23rd Aug. Very nearly missed our outbound flight due to security queues, arrived 2 hours before flight, so should have been plenty of time. Had to run to the gate."
"The chaos started going through security, the queue started in the booking-in hall then snaked all the way through security we queued for over 90 minutes"
"However the normal security queue was absolutely horrendous - it wound it's way all through the roped security area then all the way out of security and along to the very end of the concourse."
"Dreadful queues, even at 5 am on a Sunday morning and not even school holidays. Although we arrived at least 2 hours before take off, as advised, we only had 5 minutes before we were called to board."
All reports are from this summer and it echoes our last two visits earlier this year and last year.
Thanks Dave I work in manchester and all seems well with the M56 at the minute, I will check out the security I travelled in and out of the uk last week and had no trouble with security ...fingers crossed
