that is terrible, and some bikers are good decent people, however,i see many using the roads as a race track with no consideration for other road users. And here im talking sports bikes. Most chopper harley style have learned there lesson and ride with common sense
As you say "some bikers are good decent people", I would say that MOST bikers are good decent people. That has certainly been my experience over the years. SOME riders are lunatics, but usually when bikers have a passenger they ride a little more carefully, as they know that a single mistake can seriously hurt both of them.
At the moment there is nothing to say that the accident was the fault of the bikers, there MAY have been another vehicle involved, then again it could be entirely the bikers fault. Maybe he lost control, maybe he skidded on horse sh at te, we wont know exactly what happened unless the 4x4 owner comes forward with more information.
I would like to say though that the tragedy is that two people have lost their lives, and my sympathies go out to their friends and families.

I'll admit to a pro-biker prejudice, having been a pillion rider since I was about 4 and having grown up round bikes, but I find bikers very decent people in the main. Twice, a biker has been the first to stop and see if I need help when I've broken down, they almost invariably give a wave of thanks when you make room for them to pass (that sort of politeness cuts a lot of ice with me) and I think most bikers have great road sense, possibly because the ones that don't soon come to grief.
I'll never forget the group of Hell's Angel lookalikes who kept an eye on my dogs when I was solo camping so I could have a shower, and shared their breakfast bangers with them! They also strolled along to my pitch when I was packing up, to see if I needed a hand packing or loading up. Delightful people, even if they did look a bit scarey.
There are a small element of sports-bike riding, racing leather wearing "all the gear, no idea" types who are a menace though, but they're a small minority imo. They're probably maniacs when they drive a car, too. They're the motor cycle equivalent of cycling's "lycra louts" imo!
