Complete technophobe that I am....I seem to have lost the ability to view any Youtube video's you kind folk link to in threads like "Film clips about any thing" and even video's of meets I've been on and such....
Things were fine till last weekend when my computer went into one of those Loading updates type modes...Installing all sorts of updates automatically...Have also lost my toolbar thingy at top of page and am having trouble getting pics off my sim card from the camera onto a hosting site and then on here....
As I say...Complete technophobe here...So wee short replies that Jelboy can understand would be welcome...Almost regret asking for help...As I'm sure I'll get a sore head and a wee bit flustred trying to answer any of your Replies....But as I enjoy Youtube and such...Any help would be much appreciated....
TIA
Jelboy.

looks like you have lost the bit of software that enables you to look at videos etc. I think it's the flash drive, your tool bar will be because it might of become un-ticked somehow
You can always do a system restore which will restore to a previous date when all was well with your world.
Not sure where it will be on yours but do a search on the help topics should find it.
Not very clear I know, but then I'm not a brill techie but can find my way around, but maybe not the correct way, but someone will be along to help a bit more i am sure to sort you out.
A couple of years ago I did a Microsoft up-date and it completely screwed the computer. Had to do a re-install and lost a lot of files in the process.
Not much help to you but a system restore might be the answer.

Under the circumstances I would try a system restore. The program will probably be in Accessories/System Tools. Just click on it and follow the instructions. It will give you a calender showing dates you can restore back to. Choose one just before all the automatic uploads and basically follow the instructions.
It's not a good idea to allow your computer to automatically update anything. I usually tick the boxes to 'ask me' before updating then I can decide if I want them or not. A lot of updates are not required and just clog the computer and some totally cock up your computer...as you found out.
Canae help Jelboy but hope you get it sorted soon. Ask JimCall next week at Gimme. He's kens aboot computers

To get your toolbar/bars back right click on the coloured area at the top of the page (not on a icon) and click on menu bar and tool bar.Click again if you want to disable one or the tother
Youtube.
You could try reinstalling Flash Player.
Google Flashplayer and go to their page and follow the instructions to install/update.I can't post a link because it reads my browser and system info as it will yours. On the Flashplayer page you will see an optional offer to Mcafee untick that piece of crap before downloading/updating or it will install behind the Flash installation.
Hi Jelboy, it is always good to ask for help as many people have ideas and suggestions. I often need help and find the 'help' icon on computer usually comes up with an answer even if you type in vague question to describe your problem.
On many occasions there are multiple answers. The help button is the little question mark on screen. In Chrome it is found by clicking the 3 tiny horizontal bars on RH side of screen and scroll down to help. Then type in your question.
There are quite a few answers regarding watching youtube and one suggestion is to clear your cache and cookies. If you click on your start button you should find the help section and can enter 'how do I ........'
Thanks for the replies folks...Will inwardly digest your answers and have a go at your solutions a wee bit later...And let you know how I get on
Not very confident with computers...As I feel when I start mucking about with them I could and probably would make the problem worse...
I love the way some of you have this bish bosh sorted attitude when dealing with computers...Not me...I fret for days over simple manoeuvres in that department...
Thanks again...
Toolbar restored BTW...

Try "F11" on the keyboard for your toolbar.
Which System are you using? (Vista, XP, 7 etc)
If you want to try a System Restore, Start > All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Restore.
Follow the "destructions" on the box and select the highlighted date prior to doing your last update. There's a chance that might fix the problem.
------------- Some days you are the dog,
some days you are the tree.
Thanks for all your replies folks....But the problems seem to have sorted themselves out....
Came back from camping last Sunday....And everything seems to have been restored all by itself.....Cos I never got round to trying your suggestions before I went....I either have a wee computer fairy that sprinkled her fairy dust all over...Or my Son or daughter have been in and sorted it while I was away!!!
I prefer the 1st option..........
