I'm moving from Leeds to South London for a job and could do with some advice.
I'll be working in Weybridge and have been advised to look at properties a bit further out, just within reach of the M3.
I've been looking online and want to know if the details below are a good indication of prices in that area?
All other advice very welcome:)

Weybridge was traditionally regarded as 'stockbroker belt' with prices to match. It is possible to find cheaper areas within the M25, where you won't face a bumper to bumper commute, if you have to travel up the M3 in the rush hour. Check out how often there are accidents on the M3 in the morning, and subsequent traffic chaos.
Of course, you may be a stockbroker!!

Yep, all pretty much in line I would say.

The M3 is pretty packed northbound from at least J4a northbound every morning, so although you are not far from Weybridge, the actual drive time is not a lot more if you move further out into north Hampshire. Getting out of Weybridge and into the M25/M3 when I worked there about 8 years ago was not a barrel of laughs either. Similarly, heading home, once you are past J4 in the evening southbound, the traffic improves until Winchester / Eastleigh m27 area.

IMHO, the Sandhurst area is quite overpriced and there are a lot nicer areas a little further down the m3 where you will get a lot more for your money. Places around Hartley Witney, or Odiham,,or even the J7 area of the M3 south of Basingstoke - Dummer and the Candovers are nice. Very rural but a short drive from the metropolis that is basingrad with all of its shopping and leisure facilities. It is a good place for families if you are in that position.

Have a look at Rightmove's "draw a search" facility. It is pretty useful for exploring areas.

Good luck with it all. I have just moved a bit further south from the Dummer area to a marina in Portsmouth. Stupidly, I forgot to bring the wife with me, so my gaff may be up for sale when she gets her act together ;)

What type of property are you looking for?

The nearer to the Thames and the M3/M4 corridor you are, the sillier the prices
Around Hounslow/Feltham area the property is cheaper but near Heathrow.

It is a pity you can't buy a property which means going away from London in Morning and towards it in the evening. The traffic heading anywhere in direction of London is appalling.

I live in London and loved going the other way for work and vice versa.

Also check where the nearest rail station to the new work location is. Buying within walking or cycling distance at least gives you an option should the roads be jammed.

A wine lorry crashed the other day and police had to advise drivers that there were bottlenecks all over the place.

Move anywhere where you can avoid using the M25 if at all possible.

Will you have to drive or can you commute using trains etc? If so that will open up much wider search areas

Thanks everyone!
I'll be driving but can use trains etc if I'm near enough to a station.
We're after a 3 bedroom house and realise that we can't really be too choosy about the kind of house.
