Hello all, you may recognize my name as I have previously created a survey post on this forum. Just to reiterate, I am a final year student at university studying Product Design. I am researching camping and trying to gain an understanding of drying clothes whilst camping. This survey has three questions, all multiple choice, so it is really quick.
I would appreciate it if you answered the survey. If you do answer the survey you are agreeing to let me use your answers for research purposes only. The survey is completely anonymous. Thank you
done survey. only wash clothes once on one of my first trip and that was only on the last day, so all clothes clean for packing for home hahahaha.

Done it, because my son will be doing a similar course next year and as irksome as I find these survey requests, my son will be in the same boat.
If you should happen to look up this thread again, this might be of some value to you. This is the same set up I used for my tarp, without the actual tarp itself. It's a ridgeline, attached to two king poles, which are tensioned with two guy ropes. So all you need is a lot of guy rope and two poles.
But - many sites specifically ban washing lines (blight on their lovely, landscaped campsite, I can see their point) and in fact on this particular campsite it was stated in the rules no washing lines but I broke the rules very briefly on a very blowy day, knowing that it wouldn't take long.
This particular site also provided two rotary airers behind a building which housed washing machines and dryers so there was no excuse really other than I prefered to deal with my laundry at my own pitch at the time.

Do you go camping, out of interest? It's one way of gaining an understanding of the issue.
Are you inventing something useful? It's not just laundry which needs to be dried when camping. Keeping clothes and bedding dry when winter camping is a challenge too. There is a lot of dampness in the air as well as the problem of condensation forming on the sleeping bag and bedding as warm air travels through the layers and hits the cold outer air. This all has to be dried out each day.
Crikey, with some of the responses Daniddon has received to both survey threads the only conclusion they will come up with from their research is that campers are a grumpy lot........
I guess the op is doing some sort of marketing course. Students posting random surveys on internet forums for research are often accused of being lazy & tbf such students get quite an easy ride on ukcs compared with some other forums I post on.
actually for me, it not so much as clothes drying, as I wear specialised hiking gear. I could be soaked, but my clothes will dry quickly, without changing out of them.
for me, it is drying out towels and tea towels, they are a pain. on a nice day they are draped over the car or hung on the pole. Out of season they are draped around the tent.

But when camping I take enough clothes usually so that I don't have to wash or dry anything until I get home. If away more than a week, I use a launderette, either on site or in a nearby town or village. If no launderette is available, I wash out what is absolutely necessary (usually underwear and socks) by hand and either dry outside or in the awning.
Survey is far to basic and with very little thought to questions. I doubt if the OP has camped in their life. Neither of us wear T shirts and the most commonly washed items are underwear and socks. We dry our clothes as it is very uncomfortable to wear cold wet clothing. Latter was a silly question!
