I have decided to finish camping now as the wife can no longer travel far anymore and camping has been all we did. It is a bitter decision to have to take but health comes before any thing. Due to lack of funds we can't afford any other means of holidays regarding to camping also. That has been al we could do. All the gear has gone on recycle for others to hopefully get as much pleasure as we have had over so many years.
That's a shame. What about the offers in the papers for cheap caravan holidays? If there's somewhere not too far away it would give you a bit of a break.
Aw that is so sad, your post sounds so down, like franbee said maybe cheaper out of season hols in a caravan or from the vouchers in the papers might work for you. xx
Time to explore your own neighbourhood perhaps. When my husband was made redundant I couldn't afford the petrol to travel far, but was surprised by what was on my doorstep.
See what your local wildlife trust has to offer, perhaps think about joining the national trust if they have properties near you, sit back and consider what new hobbies you and your wife - either separately or together - might want to try.
Thank you for the replies. The wife does have trouble getting around now and uses a mobility scooter. We have over the last year started to do craft work the two of us and surprising takes a lot of our time. We won't be sitting moaning any way. The only thing is that it has taken over the smallest bedroom completely. That does not upset us, one less to look after.

I don't know if I am allowed to post this, but my apologies if it is not allowed.
Try looking on www.directholidayhomes.co.uk You can pick up last minute caravan and chalet holidays cheap.
You book direct with the owners. No middle man. We have used the site before and had some lovely holidays.
Take care with this company. Unfortunately some of the owners have had their detaiks hijacked and its not working as it should. Was on Watchdog recently.
