You probably would if you were the customer waiting to see the Manager, on your slipped on the spillage in aisle 31! Those calls are only usually made because a customer needs help in some way, how else are you supposed to make contact with a Colleague? (it's not possible for everyone to carry a personal phone).
I work in retail and we were discussing how rude a lot of people get the closer it gets to Christmas. Please bear in mind we are only human too and have feelings. we are there to do our job and do have some questions we need to ask when we start to serve you, if we don't you could have been the mystery shopper and we would then fail, (which means being hauled into the office and having it put on our record we didn't get 100%) yes we get bored saying the same thing over and over and over again, but that's life.
Please have a bit of patience with other customers too, some aren't as quick as others, some may look fine but we know they have a medical condition and need to spend a bit more time with them, some, particularly the older people do like a chat, we may be the only person they talk to all day. We are not there to make your life a misery, but we can only do what we can do, we don't order the stock in, so it's not OUR fault the item you want is not there, or there aren't enough checkouts open we get just as fed up as you do with the lack of Colleagues to do the jobs required but all that keeps happening is more cutbacks and we are expected to do more and more for not a lot of money. please don't shout at the person closing their checkout because there going home at 5pm some have been there since 7am, We are all entitled to a bit of time with our family. We don't shut until 7pm on Christmas Eve and I may have to be there until 10pm stacking the shelves so they can open Boxing Day. family time, what's that?

So we have to tolerate the inefficiencies of the store management?
Planning ahead will often avoid many of the problems you have identified...except if you work in the financial department of Tesco

Completely agree!!. Couldn't have put it better myself. Some people are so ignorant and its normally the older ones. To the OP who cares about the bloody music?, in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter, just shop a bit quicker!. Too many dordlers in shops, some people are on dinner break etc, hurry up!!!.

I love being in the shops at this time of year. I love all the Christmas music being played. Puts most of the shoppers into a good mood making the experience much more pleasant.

Well done to the retail therapists (checkout chicks) of Britain. You are the unsung heroes of Christmas.

PS. I don't agree with boxing day opening at all. Buy more bread on Christmas eve!!!

Oh yes - *note to self* Do not - I repeat DO NOT! sing along with the music

My friend ALWAYS sings along to the music in shops.....doesn't make a bit of difference to her whether people stare and avoid or smile at her. Dancing down the aisles in a well known supermarket last Saturday had people looking the other way but an elderly gentleman told her she'd made his day!

I am still deciding whether to become Jewish or Hindu so I can complain that playing Jingle bells and Xmas songs continously is offensive to my religious beliefs and not PC.

I have walked out of shops before now, because I have been unable to think due to loud music, especially those with a heavy bass beat.

Years ago one of my friends went for a job interview at a trendy make boutique and when asked what was the first thing he would do as manager, he replied, turn the music down. It was too loud even for people the shop was aimed at.   Not everybody shared the same tastes and it was off putting to have to listen to music that you disliked when you were trying to shop.
