Shopped in Lidl at Denbigh yesterday, now that WAS a deprssing experience, never seen a shop quite like that, terrible tatty old place but with a huge car park. Did manage to mainly get what we wanted though. We don't really need to watch the pennies, luckily, so buy what we want, normally at Tesco for the points when we are at home.
We used to shop mostly at Morrisons with the odd one now and then at Sainsbury. These days we shop mostly at Tesco as it is cheaper than the above two.
Asda, we have found is cheaper, but we prefer our local Tesco to the nearest Asda.
From experience, we have found that the Tesco online grocery is better with one hour delivery slots, more reliable deliveries and more sensible alternatives if our wanted items are not available.
When using our local Tesco we use the self scan system which you use your own scanner while you are going round putting your shopping straight into your bags.
It gives you the prices of the items so you can check them against what is shown on the shelves and gives you the running total. When you finish your shop you just pay at one of the special tills with a helper on hand if you have a problem.

But that she was gaining more by taking exercise and meeting people seems to have bypassed you.
The wrinklies are not all daft you know and generally relatively fitter than the later generation.
When I couldn't drive for awhile I had to use Tesco home delivery and apart from forgetting a couple of things or delivering the wrong item it was generally a good experience. The advantage was that I could check the total bill before ordering and adjust it if it was too expensive. Despite the delivery charge shopping in this way was normally cheaper.
I have often thought of using the 'fast track' system at the shop but knowing my luck I am sure I would have problems with it. The self checkouts never work for me.
Our local aldi was done up a bit lately and now you can get individual peppers and maybe other things...be interesting to see if the prices go up. I shop all over for the best prices - 89p for the milk in Iceland at the moment. Aldi had 1.5kg of maris piper for 29p which seemed reasonable not sure how much 5kg were in other places tbh - anyway I bought three bags....
