LOL at kazo

There is no restore partition as about a year ago I had HDD failure, I reinstalled windows onto a new HDD but had the key then.

A few days ago running slow with errors so just thought would reinstall again, but didn't realise the key was worn till too late. I don't think the retrieval tools will work as it was never there since the new install(format) if that makes sense.

I did try the first key from Gram, but it didn't work, but thanks anyhow, will have another day tomorrow,

besty, just a thought but did you get the lappy from new? the reason that I ask is my son fixes computors at work and home, and I know from experience that he has his own copy of the key that he uses, and is it possible that although you have that sticker on there its actually got nothing to do with what is on the lappy?

IT WORKED!

Many thanks to all, but a big thanks to Gram.

I went back and tried them all again, changing the odd letter here and there.

The code is 3YJ88-M8YRR-RPB3T-7YJHD which was suggested by Gram a while ago (sorry about that, not sure how I missed it). It seems it was the last D that threw us all.

I had been that busy typing codes in that I didn't know what it was so used an easy to use program called magic jelly bean to check.

next time you cant figure a key out from an OS

explore the windows disk on another pc search for a folder called i386 then you will find a notepad file named UNATTEND the key will be on that.

Romaway = when you have that on your screen if you hold ctrl and then press 0 it should take it back to a normal size, or you can use ctrl and +/- to make larger or smaller to suit
