Does anyone have any experience of bone cysts please?
My 12 yo daughter slipped on ice on her way to the school bus yesterday morning and fractured her upper arm. They discovered she has a large bone cyst.
I've read what I can find on the web but wondered if anyone has any experience. She's due to have an MRI this coming week and the medical staff were very serious and concerned.
Which medical staff were very serious and concerned? Try not to read between the lines. It is normal for you to be worried and I would be the same, but if she hadn't slipped it may never have been discovered, ever.
Medical staff will be concerned with a child with a fracture.
I'm not sure whether this is the same thing but when my daughter was 5 (she is now 30) a lump was discovered on a bone in her leg. It was removed under general anaesthetic in a routine operation. She was in plaster for 6 weeks to allow the bone to heal but made a complete recovery with no recurrence of the problem and no lasting effects.
Hope your daughters problem is as straightforward and that she is soon recovered.
Try not to worry x
I had one of these in 1958 so it may not be relevant as medicine has moved on since then. but I still have my leg and I can walk so I doubt it will be anything to worry about.
Hi i went for a mri scan on my hip last year, to be told they had also found a small cyst between my hip bone & pubic bone was told nothing to worry about, when i asked how big it was i was told the size of an orange hope your daughters is also nothing to worry about.
