Have put in an offer on ebay for £2.56 and it has gone in as £256
Have been i touch with ebay about it, they said wait until it finishes the contact seller. Sent seller a message (via ebay) right away.
Just gone in to check as it finishes soo and the price is going higher every minute.
MY QUESTION IS.....DO I HAVE TO PAY ENDING PRICE?
HELP PLEASE

I would imagine the bidding will only go as high as the item is worth and then people will stop bidding and you will be shown as the winner. Assuming the item isn't worth anywhere near £256 then it is unlikely the bidding will keep going beyond it's value. When the auction has finished you can then decide whether you want to pay the final price or not.

Regardless of the above, you have done the right thing by advising both the seller and ebay. The seller could easily cancel your bid now if he wishes although he may leave it on in the hope that once you fail to pay he can offer it to the next highest bidder on a second chance offer.

Whatever happens you are under no legal obligation to pay for an item you have won on ebay although if you don't you could get a strike against you. I doubt that will happen since you have advised both ebay and the seller in good time.

Have won the item, closed at £8.50 plus p&p which i think is a fair price.
Thank goodness it didn't go to the maximum

Yes you can retract a bid that has been entered incorrectly. Entering wrong amount appears to be a valid reason for retracting bid & you can then enter correct amount. Bid retraction here. You need to be logged into ebay to see link.

It happens a lot with joke items put on and ridiculously high bids come in for them, but I bet the sale never gets completed.
