Hi,
Has anybody managed to obtain a refund from Virgin after being unable to get their balloon ride?
I've had over 10 flights cancelled over a 2 year period.
Just wondering if anybody else has had this problem and if so did they obtain refund.
Thanks
Be interested in this thread as we have been waiting two years as well. Bought three tickets for my son's 21st and he is nearly 23 now. Fed up of waiting.
My friend had a couple of cancellations then the next time she reapplied, after the winter, they said she had left it too long and the tickets were now invalid.
Back in 1990-1993 the firm I worked for decided to buy a Hot Air Balloon and use it for corporate entertaining.
It was a bit like getting 3 years of work to go and play, as I was seconded, to arrange getting customers to the venues and help with setting up the Balloon etc.
But it soon became apparent that around only around half of the Flights planned would ever get of the ground, at the the end of the 3 years we owed 100's of missed flights for folk.
There are different types of vouchers by the looks of it. Most are only valid for 12 to 18 mths, and only some will give you a discount. Have a look at their T&C to see if you have any chance.
As Bernie47 said, sounds like a nice little earner!
As part of my present I bought a Virgin Balloon Flight (539521) voucher. I was to experience this with two friends.
A year later, after cancellations made by yourselves, I was advised to upgrade the voucher to a 7 day anytime voucher for which I duly did paying another £10. (575542)
Here I am nearly two years after the original booking and 10 cancelled flights I have still to enjoy the experience.
I don't think its unreasonable to request a full refund.
Perhaps you could try reclaiming on your credit card, as they have not fulfilled the contract? Something to do with Section 75?
Might be worth a look at the MSE website to see if anyone else has successfully reclaimed their money.
I am getting worried now after reading this thread. I bought my wife a Virgin Balloon flight for Xmas. It was booked in March and was cancelled and then was booked again in April and was cancelled. Both due to weather. We now have to book again. This was purchased through Buyagift so not sure how refunds would go if it is cancelled time and time again.
